Pandoh Dam	The success of Bhakra Nangal inspired taking up of Dams on River Beas. The idea to construct BSL Project was to relieve the power shortage and to enable erstwhile Punjab (New Punjab & Haryana) to utilize their full share in the unutilized waters of Ravi & Beas Rivers, and to afford necessary flexibility for uitilizing extra flow in the Beas River during relatively wet years on Bhakra areas in case the supplies from the Satluj River happen to be insufficient.

Baggi

The Baggi control works have been provided at the exit point of the Pandoh Baggi Tunnel for regulation of out flows from Pandoh Reservoir to meet the fluctuating demands of Dehar Power Plant. To utilize the optimum natural fall at Baggi, construction of 40MW Baggi Power Plant is under process.

Sunder Nagar Hydel Channel

From Baggi onwards, the Beas water is taken in an open channel called Sunder Nagar Hydel Channel. It is a 11.8 Km long concrete lined channel with a discharge capacity of 240.7 cumecs (8500 cusecs) of water.

Balancing Reservoir

The water conductor system consists of 13.1 km Pandoh Baggi Tunnel having 25 ft. dia, 11.8 long hydel channel, a Balancing reservoir at Sundernagar, 12.35 km long Sundernagar Satluj Tunnel with a finished dia of 28 ft. and an underground differential type RCC Surge Shaft of 75 ft. dia and 410 ft. height. The construction of 24.45 kms long Tunnels is an outstanding achievement considering the complex geological conditions existing in the lower Himalayas.


Surge Shaft	The differential type surge shaft has 22.86 m dia, 125 m height with an internal riser of 7.62 m diameter.

Dehar Power House

It is the largest hydro-electric tunneling project in the country & envisages the diversion of about 4711 MCM (3.82 MAF) of Beas waters from Pandoh Dam in to Satluj basin falling through a height of 1050 ft. at Dehar, generating 990 MW of power through its 6 units. The water is further utilized to augment the firm power output at Bhakra by 148 MW.

Dehar Control Room

The power from Dehar power House is evacuated through 400 kV lines to Panipat and Bhiwani, 220 kV D/C line to Ganguwal and 132 kV line to Shimla.

Dehar Switch Yard

The Dehar Switchyard has three 400 kV bays, ten 220 kV Bays and six 132 KV bays.
