After the Member (Power), next, in the organisational hierarchy comes the Chief Engineers who head the respective offices followed by Superintending Engineers/Directors, Sr. Executive Engineers/Dy. Chief Engineer (System Operation)

CE/System Operation

 Er. R.S. Lamba took over as Chief Engineer/System Operation, B.B.M.B. on 1st August, 2011.  Born on 28th November, 1954, he graduated in Electrical Engineering from Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala in 1977.  Subsequently he completed his M.E. (Electrical) from the same institute in 1981.

            He joined Punjab State Electricity Board as Apprentice Engineer on 21.7.1978 and handled various assignments as under :-

 The experience of Er.R.S.Lamba has been by & large focused on Planning/ Design and Power Regulation.  He had been a member of various committees of Northern Region Power Committee (NRPC), viz; Operation Coordination Committee, Commercial Sub Committee, Unified System Monitoring Group for four years during his tenure as Director/ Chief Engineer (Power Regulation) in BBMB.  He was incorporated as member of various committees related to Grid by CEA/NRPC.  He is regularly attending Technical Coordination Committee (TCC) & NRPC meetings.  He has been interacting with partner States, CEA, PowerGrid, NRLDC, NRPC & CERC to acquire the requisite important informations, projecting BBMB and to achieve the goals in the best interest of BBMB.

He was promoted by his parent Department (PSPCL) as Chief Engineer on 31.12.2010 and placed at the disposal of BBMB.  The post of Director/Power Regulation on which he was working was upgraded to that of Chief Engineer/Power Regulation w.e.f. 31.12.2010 on which he worked till 31.7.2011.  He joined on the present post as Chief Engineer/System Operation, BBMB after the same fell vacant on 1.8.2011 and is looking after Planning & Design Directorate (Power Plants) and Power Regulation Directorate, BBMB, Chandigarh .

Chief Engineer (Transmission System)

CE/Transmission 

 Er. V.K. Gupta took over as Chief Engineer/Transmission System Organisation, Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) on 5th July,2010 .  Born on  17.6.1954, he graduated with degree in B.Sc.Engg.( Electronics & Communication ) with  honours in 1977 and post graduated in M.Sc.Engg.    ( Electronics & Communication )  from National Institute of Engg. Kurukshetra in 1977 with field of Research in Computer Networks Design in Indian Perspective.  Briefly he joined as faculty member in N.I.T. Kurukshetra from 1977 to 1980.                        Later he joined Haryana State Electricity Board on 15.1.1980 as Training Apprentice.  He joined BBMB on 11.8.1981 as SDO T/L(400KV) Dhulkote.  Later he served on various posts in Transmission Wing of B.B.M.B. as SDO ,such as S&T Jamalpur  SDO/TL, Jamalpur, SDO/A&A, Jamalpur from August,1981 to April,2001.  He was promoted as Sr.Executive Engineer on 23.4.2001 and served various important posts in Transmission Organisation of BBMB as Sr.Xen/O&M Division, BBMB, Jamalpur, Sr.Xen/Tech. Jamalpur from April, 2001 to November,2007.  He joined as Superintending Engineer/O&M Div., Jamalpur in November,2007 and served as Superintending Engineer/O&M Circle, Jamalpur from January,2008 to July, 2010.  During this tenure, he contributed various aspects of improvements in Operation & Maintenance of 220KV Substation, Jamalpur. 66kV Sub-stations at PGI and Sector-56 , Chandigarh were constructed and  commissioned under his Administartive control.  He joined as Chief Engineer/Transmission System Organisation, BBMB, Chandigarh in July,2010 and presently holding administrative control of O&M Circle, Panipat, Jamalpur & Bhiwani and Protection & Carrier Directorate.  He is active member of CIGRE and lately attended International Conference on Large Electric System by CIGRE in Paris in August 2010.

Chief Engineer (Generation)

Er.K.K.Kaul joined as Chief Engineer/Generation, BBMB, Nangal on 01.03.2011. Born on 31st December, 1955 he graduated in Electrical Engineering from Punjab Engineering College , Chandigarh in 1975 and post graduated in Electrical Machines from IIT, Kharagpur in 1977. He did teaching in Electrical Engineering Department as Assistnt Professor at  Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala for around one year before joining the Punjab State Electricity Board presently Punjab State Power Corporation Limited  (PSPCL) in 1978 as Apprentice Engineer. Later he was posted as SDO in Distribution Sub Division, Lalru where he worked for around 3˝ years at this public dealing assignment followed by his major tenure at Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Power Plant, Ropar where he worked from July, 1982 to September, 2010 after 1 year P.E.T.S (Power Engineers Training Society) training  at Neyveli .in different capacities from Assistant Engineer to Deputy Chief Engineer and in different areas like operation &  maintenance of electrical, mechanical and instrumentation sections. After promotion to Chief Engineer by his parent department i.e. PSPCL, he had a brief stint as Chief Engineer, Distribution, Patiala and as Chief Engineer-cum-Chairman of ‘Forum for Redressal of Consumer Grievances’ at Patiala before joining  BBMB on 01.03.2011 where he is presently looking after the operation and maintenance of all the six power plants of BBMB located at Bhakra, Ganguwal, Kotla, Pong and Dehar having 28 machines with a total installed capacity of 2864.73 MW.
